One MAJOR Lesson Learned from Calving 2022

Calving season seems to take forever and it’s exhausting. I swear I got up twice a night, every night for a month, convincing myself that “tonight is the night.” It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the worry of calving. When are they going to give birth? Why is it taking so long? Why don’t we see more progress? What if she isn’t even pregnant? What if she calves while I’m not home or asleep? Even after they are born, are they drinking enough? What if… fill in your own worrisome statement.

This kind of worry isn’t helpful and only introduces more stress. If you’ve followed my previous blog post then you’re already prepared, now relax. Take a breath and watch the beauty of my Mother Nature doing what she does best. Truly, God has a plan for each and every one of us. Creatures big and small. So, do what you can to prepare and trust that things will work out. Enjoy this year’s calves: Romeo and Juliet (formerly named Ginger and the Skipper) sold to a lovely family in Kiowa.

Romeo, mini bull (steer) calf born on June 5th, 2022
