Most counties / zoning allow 4 indoor pets (cats/dogs) and (a few) chickens. If the zoning allows horses, usually 2 are permitted. Sometimes, you can “substitute” a cow for a horse. AS LONG AS: animals are healthy and well maintained, keeping of the animals doesn’t impact odor, devegation and erosion. It seems that folks get in trouble with the devegatation requirements, most counties have minimum setbacks and require smaller containment so as not to over graze the pasture.
