Wicked Windy Ranch

Wicked Windy Ranch is a small, gentleman’s ranch at the base of the Rocky Mountains. We’re near the Palmer Divide and as the name suggests, it can get quite windy. We used to lament about it, now we’ve decided to embrace it. It’s beautiful, remote, yet close to major amenities. We’ll take the views, the solitude and the wind.

One of the reasons we decided to breed mini highlands is for their overall health and fortitude. For thousands of years, they have survived, even flourished, in the Scottish Highlands. Not only did this make them hearty for bad weather, but they also ended up living in close quarters with villagers. Most of the rogue cows were sent to slaughter and the docile ones were used as breeding stock. Fast forward to today’s modern, mini variety and they have retained their health and good dispositions.

Even during our worst blizzards, they are perfectly happy to remain outside. The horses are eager to have their doors closed and have a little peace from the wind, but the mini highlands don’t seem to mind.

BamBam is such a little love! For the longest time, she looked like a lamb.

See the photo pages for more pictures! We are currently waitlisting and taking deposits for our 2020 and 2021 calves out of Pebbles and BamBam.

Additionally, we are offering breeding to our mini highlands bull, Captain Jack Sparrow, for the winter 2019/2020 season. He’s chondro positive, which means you’re guaranteed a tiny, dwarf calf 50% of the time.
